The support this season has been nothing but incredible from the very first game of the season, seeing not only the regular faces of the York City faithful but new faces gracing the LNER Community Stadium week after week.
Being able to host a “live screening” event is one thing, but having sold 4’500 tickets in 24hours alone is nothing short of sensational. In partnership with Reel Productions, we can confirm that the stadium will host five large screens for the event, providing supporters with fantastic views of the game as we cheer on the team.
As with all events that take place at the LNER Community Stadium, we’ve been working closely with all stakeholders to ensure that the event is set up, managed and delivered as effectively as possible. Turnstiles for the event will open at 11:30am (60mins prior to kick off) where fans can then enjoy the atmosphere being created by YO1 Radio, not forgetting our resident face painters. If any supporters in attendance have any flags that the York City Supporters Trust donated at the final league fixture of the season, feel free to bring those with you to generate yet again an amazing atmosphere in the stadium.
With the event being organised this Saturday, not a “live” sporting fixture within the stadium bowl all parties have been working hard to try and obtain a special events license to allow the sale of alcohol within concourse kiosks. During the event build-up, we were made aware that licensing of the event would be as per any normal football fixture, however after conversations with the police and the council, it appeared this wasn’t the case. As per the above, work has gone into trying to obtain a license, but unfortunately, on this occasion hasn’t been granted. This unfortunately accounts for bringing your own alcohol. However, all kiosks will be open, serving food and beverages during the build-up and during the fixture.
The DAZN coverage tends to broadcast a delay of roughly 40-60 seconds behind the real-time action. With this, we kindly ask all supporters attending to please turn off all football score notifications or to please switch off your phone altogether to not spoil the experience for those in attendance. We ask that you do not tune into any radio station as well. We want the experience to feel as live as possible.
All tickets purchased grant entry into either the East or South Stands. Those who purchased a ticket in the East Stand can take any available in the East Stand, those with a South Stand ticket can take any seat in the South Stand. Please ensure you are in the correct stand. The press box is reserved for the press only.
We also make one final request that all supporters stay inside the stands and do not cross the concrete barriers pitch-side at any point. York Valkyrie have a game the next day on the pitch, so please do not step on the grass at any point out of respect for our friends at the Rugby club.
First York will be running it’s usual matchday service to and from the stadium throughout the day to accommodate supporters attending. Normal match-day parking restrictions are in place.
We’d like to make all supporters aware that the event will finish at 4pm and all supporters will be asked to leave the LNER Community Stadium at this time.
Let’s make the noise and show the lads your support from over the Pennines!
