Campbell first linked up with the Minstermen’s U19s after coming through the ranks at Mansfield, and he was part of the first-team squad as understudy to Pete Jameson during 2021/22. After his contract wasn’t renewed for 2022/23, Campbell was brought back after a short spell with AFC Telford and was thrown in at the deep end, making his senior York debut days later against Oldham from the bench.
