City lost out to a late goal against Stockport County this afternoon in a private behind closed doors friendly game at Bootham Crescent.

In a promising performance against the league above's promotion favourites, it took an 87th minute goal from Nyal Bell to separate the two sides.

Jake Cassidy had a few chances early in in the first half, latching onto a Michael Duckworth cross and heading just over and striking a deflected shot just wide of the mark.

Paddy McLaughlin also went close on 39 minutes with a drive just past the post.

Harry Bunn had a deflected effort tipped just over the bar early on in the first half, with Robbie Tinkler shooting wide just a minute later.

Duckworth cleared one off the line on 86 minutes after County got in behind, but Nyal Bell scored the winning goal after - the ball ricocheting around the six-yard box before the substitute stuck out a leg to divert it home with minutes left on the clock.

City now look forward to their final pre-season fixture against Notts County next Saturday, a game which will be played with 1,000 home spectators as part of a pilot scheme to get supporters back into football stadia.
