City lose out to South Shields in friendly

Match Result

City lost 3-0 to South Shields this evening, with goals from Robert Briggs, Nathan Lowe, and Jason Gilchrist.
York played well in the first half and were unlucky not to go ahead with Paddy McLaughlin thundering a strike against the post from 25 yards early on.
However, a penalty conceded by Scott Barrow in the 36th minute seemed to turn the game on its head as Shields captain Robert Briggs stepped up and sent Pete Jameson the wrong way to open the scoring.
Nathan Lowe added an early goal after the break with a driven free-kick into the bottom corner. Then Jason Gilchrist scored a minute later, latching onto a through ball, cutting inside and blasting home to seal a 3-0 win for the Mariners.
