JON PARKIN produced another moment of deadball magic to earn York City a point against Kidderminster Harriers.

The veteran striker took his goal tally to eleven in his last nine appearances with a stunning freekick to bring City back on level terms eight minutes before halftime.

Kidderminster had gone ahead after 20 minutes when captain Ryan Croasdale curled a shot beyond goalkeeper Adam Bartlett from 25 yards.

Bartlett, who was making his home debut, had already produced good low saves to deny James Pearson and James McQuilkin.

City equalised from a freekick following a foul by Croasdale on City striker Gary Martin.

Parkin, who scored the winner from the penalty spot last week at Alfreton and also scored a match-winning freekick against Brackley Town, curled the ball over the wall in some style before celebrating in front of the Popular Stand.

Although there were few clear-cut opportunities in the second half, City defended well against a good footballing side.

Bartlett saved from substitute Emmanual Sonupe and both Josh Law and Hamza Bencherif made vital interventions to stop visiting attacks.

Manager Martin Gray had named an unchanged side following last weekend’s 3-2 victory at Alfreton Town but included midfielder Tyler Walton on the bench for the first time since his return to the club last week.

Former Wales and Sunderland goalkeeper Tony Norman stepped in as a goalkeeping coach today following the departure of Jon Worsnop.
