YORK City scored five goals and secured a fifth consecutive victory against AFC Telford United to move fourth in Vanarama National League North.

Captain Sean Newton (2), Raul Correia, Adriano Moke, and Jonny Burn were all on target for City who also owed a debt of gratitude to goalkeeper Adam Bartlett for a string of stunning late saves in an eight goal thriller.

Telford trailed 5-1 after 52 minutes but never gave up the chase in frequent snowfall and reduced the deficit to 5-3 with 18 minutes to play. However, City held firm in the face of the storm - both literally and meteorologically speaking!

Manager Martin Gray made one change to his starting line-up with Simon Heslop replacing Daniel Rowe in the centre of midfield.

Heslop had not played for City since October 28 and this was his first appearance since returning from a loan spell at Eastleigh.

There were just nine minutes gone when City scored two goals in less than 60 seconds to take control of the game.

Captain Newton opened the scoring with a firm header from a Heslop corner.

City supporters were still celebrating that goal when the ball ended up in the Telford net again.

Telford had played the ball back to goalkeeper Ryan Schofield from the kick-off but he was dispossessed by striker Correia when attempting to clear.

Corriea rolled the ball into an empty net for his first goal since arriving on loan from Blackpool.

Telford pulled a goal back in the 21st minute when former Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake headed in a cross at close-range.

But Newton re-established City's two goal advantage at a 34th minute corner with a header that took a deflection on its way past Schofield.

Opportunities for both sides came and went and Bartlett made a fine save in the 38th minute when Jordan Murphy broke between defenders.

However, Adriano Moke made it 4-1 to City just before the interval with a cool finish after both he and Correia had seen shots blocked in the Telford box.

Telford manager Rob Edwards made three substitutions at the interval in an attempt to turn things around but it was not long before City scored for a fifth time.

Defender Jonny Burn was the man on target this time - tapping home when a freekick from Josh Law struck the inside of both posts.

City's lead was reduced to 5-2 in the 61st minute when Ebanks-Blake scored with a low shot from just inside the box.

Telford defender Connor Johnson then scored with a downward header to make it 5-3 with 18 minutes to play.

Goalkeeper Bartlett produced a string of brilliant saves in the final stages to ensure City took all three points.

He twice denied Ebanks-Blake and then pulled off a full length save to his left to palm away a header from Shane Sutton at a corner.
