Paddy McLaughlin scored his first goal since returning to the club but a late equaliser by Kingsley James denied City victory at Guiseley.

Manager Steve Watson made two changes to his starting line-up with Joe Tait and Jordan Burrow preferred to Hamza Bencherif and Jon Parkin who both dropped to the bench.

City dominated the majority of the first 45 minutes yet only had one goal to show for their efforts by the interval.

Midfielder McLaughlin found the net after just 10 minutes - scoring with a neat downward header from a Scott Burgess cross.

Macaulay Langstaff volleyed over after chesting a ball down on the edge of the box and Burrow also turned the ball from inside the six yard box after good work by Alex Kempster.

Sean Newton was unlucky not to score when his shot was blocked on the line after Marcus Dewhurst dropped a corner. Langstaff also sent a half volley narrowly wide of the post after running onto a Burrow flick.

Guiseley rarely tested Adam Bartlett in the first half although the City goalkeeper did have to dive low to save a shot from Kaine Felix and a diving header from Andy Halls was just off target.

City spurned another opportunity in the 42nd minute when goalkeeper Dewhurst blocked a thunderous Langstaff shot and Kempster failed to convert the loose ball.

The halftime whistle signalled a change in the whole complexion of the game as Guiseley improved and City's superiority was wiped out.

James delivered an early warning of Guiseley's intent when heading past Bartlett but the 'goal' was ruled out for offside.

However, the midfielder eventually equalised for the home side in the 79th minute, shooting into the roof of the net after George Cantrill broke down the right and pulled the ball across the area.

Guiseley might have snatched all three points five minutes from the end when Alex Purver struck the post and and Andy Hall's follow-up shot was deflected over the crossbar.

City created far fewer opportunities in the second half although Langstaff shot wide after turning in the area and a McLaughlin shot deflected narrowly over the bar.
