Spennymoor Town 2 York City 4

JON PARKIN took his career goals tally to 199 as York City secured a confidence-boosting victory at Spennymoor Town.

The veteran striker scored two first half penalties to settle City’s nerves before Louis Almond opened his account for the Minstermen shortly before the interval.

Spennymoor got a foothold in the contest on 62 minutes when Daniel Parslow was adjudged to have handled at a corner.

Defender Joseph Tait who, ironically, had handled the ball for both City penalties, duly converted from the spot.

When Town substitute Mark Anderson made it 3-2 with five minutes to go, it set up a tense finale.

But City substitute Kaine Felix wrapped things up in stoppage time – seizing on a poor clearance by Town goalkeeper Daniel Lowson to shoot into an unguarded net from 35 yards.

City manager Gary Mills made three changes to his side - Theo Wharton replaced the suspended Simon Heslop, fit-again striker Louis Almond replaced Michael Rankine, and Jassem Sukar was preferred to Conor Smith – and switched to a 3-4-3 formation.
