York City won 3-1 against Barnet at the LNER Community Stadium in a Vanarama National League top of the table clash on Tuesday night.

Barnet broke the deadlock initially through Bailey Hobson but follow ups from Marvin Armstrong, Alex Hunt and Ollie Pearce topped a thrilling Tuesday night under the lights.

Manager Adam Hinshelwood made three changes to the side which demolished Ebbsfleet United three days prior.

Ryan Fallowfield, Ricky Aguiar and Tyrese Sinclair all dropped to the bench, replaced by Marvin Armstrong, Callum Harriott and Malachi Fagan-Walcott.

York won three corners inside the opening ten minutes, but failed to make any of them land in the first instance.

Midfielder Alex Hunt struck a smart volley after seven minutes, calling Nick Hayes into action, latching onto a Barnet clearance after Dipo Akinyemi crossed in from the left.

Ollie Pearce pulled wide of the mark in the 34th minute after picking up on a loose back pass and rounding Hayes before rolling off target.

Barnet broke the deadlock in the 37th minute when the unmarked Bailey Hobson dispatched Ryan Glover’s fizzed cross from the right flank.

Ryan Glover could’ve doubled up Barnet’s lead. He struck a volley in front of goal over after Hobson’s placed shot was beaten away.

Link up between Hunt and Joe Felix down the right flank resulted in the midfielder delivering over for Armstrong to tap home just shy of half time, allowing the lads to go into the break level.

Left back Cameron John made a crucial interception in the 55th minute, preventing prowling goalscorer Nicke Kabamba from opening his account on the night at close range.

An exquisite free kick from midfielder Hunt gave Adam Hinshelwood’s side a 2-1 lead in the 74th minute, in what was his first goal for the club since joining too.

A quick fire double soon followed. Substitute Tyrese Sinclair pressed, winning the ball back off of a Barnet mistake, before slotting the forward though to hit hard and low at goal.

Youngster Luca Thomas nearly netted back-to-back goals from the bench too after guiding a header goalwards in the 90+6th minute, however Hayes was equal to it and swiped away.
