A note from the Chairman…

The past few months have been a rollercoaster for everyone and I want to personally thank our supporters who have been steadfast in a time of great uncertainty.

In particular, thank you to our season ticket holders who have been understanding in respect to the cancellation of games and patient while waiting for information from the club.

As has been widely reported, football clubs across the country from every level of the game have been hit hard financially, as is the case with York City Football Club.

An important source of income, match day ticket sales, has ceased and we have no knowledge about when fans will fill stadiums again and with cancelled matches other avenues of income also end.

Indeed, across all aspects of the club income streams have ceased, but many costs have still remained, putting us in an unenviable position.

We are using all resources available, which includes essential support from the parent company, to help mitigate these challenging circumstances so that the club can survive Covid-19.

With this in mind, today we announce our 2019/2020 Season Ticket Resolution.

Our ultimate aim is to be respectful to those fans who have paid for matches that didn’t take place, while trying our best to salvage the club’s financial position. Therefore, with agreement of the board, we present below options for 2019/2020 season ticket holders and Vice Presidents to choose from.

We have received correspondence from a vast number of fans who have kindly expressed their desire to renounce their right to a refund and donate their money to the club.

We are extremely grateful to any supporters who are able to help the club by choosing this option and donate the pro rata value of their season ticket back to York City Football Club. Your donation will help to recoup some of the revenue lost during Covid-19.

To make this process as easy as possible, no action is required.

Each donor will be made an honorary patron of the Academy for the 2020/21 Season. As an honorary patron, your name will be listed on the York City FC website and you will receive a report during the 2020/21 Season with details of how your donation has benefitted the Academy.

About the Academy: York City continually strives to create the best environment, through welfare, facilities, and specialised coaches to ensure that every young player has the chance to maximise their potential. From U9 to U19, the Academy continues to bring top local talent through to the First Team with Ryan Whitley, Nathan Dyer and Charlie Jebson-King all playing first team football last season.

Those who choose to donate will also be given the chance to attend an invitation-only open day event at the LNER Community Stadium, to watch the team train and participate in an open Q&A session.

In addition, by kindly supporting the club during this difficult time, your name will be printed in a lasting memorial at the LNER Community Stadium.

Lastly, in recognition of their work in the community during the pandemic, for every donation York City Football Club will invite a key worker from York to watch a match at the LNER Community Stadium free of charge.


Whilst many season ticket holders have expressed their desire to waive their right to a refund and instead donate to the club, we fully understand that the current pandemic has caused changes to personal financial situations for a number of individuals. Any season ticket holder who decides that they require a refund in the current climate has the club’s full support.

To obtain a refund, please either send a letter or E-Mail with your Name, Address, Phone Number, Season Ticket Book Number, Stand, Seat (if applicable) and Concession (if applicable) by August 31st. The club will make best efforts to contact all Season Ticket holders, however if we fail to make contact and/or fail to receive notification by either post or E-Mail, the club will assume that the pro-rata value of the season ticket is a donation.

Please note that depending on your method of payment and the volume of requests we receive, we may not be able to process all refunds until the Ticket Office is fully operational. As a result, your request may take longer than typically expected to administer. We apologise for any inconvenience.
