Club Historian releases latest Bootham Crescent book

By Dan Simmonite | 16th August 2021

Paul Bowser has released the latest edition in his Bootham Crescent book series, titled Bootham Crescent: A Second Home Part Two.

It comes after the success of the first edition which was a big hit with City fans and led to the lifelong supporter being offered the official role of Club Historian, succeeding the late Dave Batters.

Part Two of the book covers the period 1960 – 1993, culminating in York City’s play-off success at Wembley on that famous day in May 1993. It is hardback production of 270 A4 pages covering three remarkable decades in the development of the ground and the performances of the team.

You can purchase the book from the Club Shop at the LNER Community Stadium or directly from the online store.

Speaking on the latest addition to his book collection Bowser said: “The book is going really well; I’ve had quite a lot of pre-orders which have all gone out now and I’m thrilled that the club are stocking it in the club shop.

“This is the second book of three. The first one came out a couple of years ago and I’m planning to do a reprint of that in the next few months. The third book will hopefully be ready for Autumn 2022.

“I was immensely proud to be asked to be Club Historian. It’s an exciting time for the club with the new stadium and I have high hopes for this season. Next year is also the club centenary and there will be plans for that I’m sure - so it’s a great time to be involved.

“I’m really looking forward to building on the heritage of the club which was recorded previously by Dave Batters.”
