Electronic ticketing explained for LNER Community Stadium

22nd December 2019

We would like the move over to the LNER Community Stadium to be as smooth as possible and give the best opportunity for supporters to enjoy the new stadium and the fantastic facilities on offer.

We cannot confirm the first match due to be played at the new stadium, as any such date would be inaccurate at this point with construction still yet to be complete and test events then taking place afterwards which need to run successfully and pass all the relevant checks.

After this is completed, we will look to move from Bootham Crescent to the new ground. Once a move date becomes clear this will be communicated.

However, in the meantime as a Club we feel it is important that we explain how the electronic ticketing system will work.

Every fan will need a ticket to get through the turnstiles at the new ground. That ticket in whichever stand you choose to sit will have a specific seat number allocated and there will be no access to the stadium without one.

We understand there will be two sections of 'unallocated seating' in the South Stand at the LNER Community Stadium to allow people to sit where they would like at a first come, first served basis on a matchday.

Final testing of the ticketing platform is now taking place, by the ticketing partners, for a release in early in 2020.

Existing season ticket holders will receive email correspondence, with full instructions of how to select your season ticket seat, for all league fixtures to be played at the LNER Community Stadium in the 2019-20 National League North season.

Those without email addresses, will be contacted by telephone, to arrange for a seat to be selected, or can attend the Club during Club Shop opening hours.

Prior to our first fixture in our new home, season ticket holders will be provided with a credit card style season card, which will provide electronic turnstile access at the new stadium.

There will be no additional cost to current season ticket holders, for the remainder of this season, with the Club covering administration and season card costs.

Until we do make the move to the LNER Community Stadium, your current season ticket book is to be used to grant you access to Bootham Crescent. The new season card will only be able to grant access to the new stadium once we move and not the remaining games at Bootham Crescent.

Current season ticket holders will be presented with the opportunity to retain the same seat or an alternative seat which they can select for the remainder of the 2019/20 season, when renewing their season ticket for the 2020/21 season.

To provide supporters with a modern, hassle-free ticketing solution, the ticketing system for the LNER Community Stadium focuses heavily upon online ticket purchases.

The online system allows supporters to purchase their match tickets for as many individual games as they wish. The system is simple to use, with a one-time only registration required for each new “customer”, once a supporter profile has been created tickets are able to be stored as a PDF on a mobile device, which can subsequently be scanned at a turnstile, or can be printed at home and taken to the stadium.

As soon as the first fixture to be played at the LNER Community Stadium becomes clear, we will communicate this and tickets and all subsequent fixtures in the current season will be made available on the ticketing platform, for both individual or block (multi fixture) purchase.

We very much appreciate that whilst it is the Club’s aspiration to move to all online ticket sales over the next few seasons it is not realistic to achieve this immediately.

We fully understand and appreciate that some fans may currently prefer to pay by cash or card in person and this service will be available at the Ticket Office at the new stadium on weekdays. You will have the opportunity to select your seat for the game as you do on the online system.

On matchdays there will be various additional ticketing desks where you will be able to pay by cash or card. Whilst you can obviously pick the stand you require there will not be an opportunity to select a seat number - these will be issued numerically within the stand.

We would however stress that in order to minimise queuing, we advise that supporters purchase tickets prior to matchdays.
