Parslow targets win at Blyth

7th August 2017

Defender Danny Parslow says Tuesday night's trip to Blyth Spartans is a 'good opportunity' for City to secure a first victory of the season.

The Minstermen head to the north east tomorrow seeking to bounce back from Saturday's 1-0 opening day loss to AFC Telford United.

Parslow, however, is also aware that Blyth could be on a high as they play their first game at home since winning promotion to National League North.

"A game Tuesday night is a good thing. It's an opportunity to go up the road and put on a better performance and hopefully get three points," he said.

"Coming off the back of their promotion, they will be high and full of confidence. So we need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down, and be a lot better than we were (on Saturday)."

Reflecting on Saturday's defeat, Parslow said: "It's the first game of the season, expectations are there, and we are desperate to put on a performance and more importantly, get the result. I think if we had got through the game winning 2 or 3-1, you would have taken the positives from it, and you are on our way.

"But they defended well and we played into their hands at times," he added. "In the second half, we were hopeful rather than looking to create chances. We need to work harder on creating chances rather than just hitting hopeful balls."
