Pre-Season Fan Update from the new owners

As part of our new communications strategy, we would like to update supporters on various aspects of the club.

Since announcing our takeover and new partnership model four weeks ago, we have wasted no time in learning and observing every aspect of the club.

Changes will be slow in the early stages, but rest assured that feedback from fans is noted, and we are devising an operational plan to move things in the right direction – in line with our vision, mission and values.

First and foremost, we must thank our dedicated fanbase for the outstanding response to season tickets this year. We are pleased to report a record all-time high of 2,100 sold ahead of the new campaign.

The appetite for football in this city is clear and we will do everything possible to capitalise on this wave of positivity.

 

Stock of Kit and Merchandise

As many supporters will have noted, our popular Centenary kits are only currently available for pre-order. This is due to the supply chain issues for football clubs up and down the country as widely reported in the media.

York City are one of the few clubs who have had an initial amount of stock delivered but we are waiting on a substantial amount from PUMA expected in October.

We share frustrations from the fans and for the delays we can only apologise.

Plans are already underway for next season’s kit, and we will make sure that this is signed off and ordered well in advance to mitigate any potential delays.

The Club Shop currently has a range of items in the interim with exciting new merchandise coming soon.

 

Website changes

Outstanding historic invoices for the official website have now been paid in full, allowing us to make the necessary updates for the new season.

We have also developed a new temporary sponsorship website to automate the process for digital packages, player sponsorship and hospitality boxes. Click here to view all the current opportunities.

Navigation on the ticketing website has also changed, allowing users to now book car parking under a dedicated section.

A wider project will take place this season to bring all our websites together and make the fan experience including ticketing, hospitality and online store sales as easy as possible moving forward.

 

Staff Changes

Liam Armstrong has been in post as Commercial Manager now for eight weeks and is working on some exciting new partnerships and potential sponsorships for the club. The quickest way Liam can be contacted directly for sales queries is via email on commercial@yorkcityfootballclub.co.uk and for hospitality queries on hospitality@yorkcityfootballclub.co.uk – alternatively you can book directly online.

Steve Dorey, Development Officer, will be changing his day-to-day role at the club to best suit our needs. As part of this Steve will be working closely with the York City FC Foundation to improve collaboration with the community and also devise new fan initiatives.

Elsewhere, we had a great response to applications for the new Media Manager position and after interviews that took place earlier this week, we are pleased to be able to announce Kieran Archer who will start this Saturday. Current Media Manager Dan Simmonite will be leaving the club next Friday to take up a new opportunity at the FIFA World Cup. Dan has kindly offered to work with Kieran next week for a full handover, ensuring the transition goes smoothly. We would like to thank Dan for his service to the club the past 3 years and wish him well for his new venture.

 

Events

We have identified the need to make use of our events facility at the new stadium which entitles us to one night a week in our hospitality lounges. We aim to release a full schedule of events for our Centenary year in due course which will allow us to maximise our fan engagement and commercial opportunities moving forward.

As part of this we invite supporters to join us on Monday evening at the LNER Community Stadium for a fans’ forum – allowing the opportunity for questions and interaction with new Chairman Glen Henderson, Chief Executive Alastair Smith and Manager John Askey. Doors open in the LNER Lounge at 6:30pm – bar open at 7pm - and the event will run until 9pm. The capacity is 200 people on the night and you must register if you are planning on attending due to high demand.

Our attentions now turn to our season opener at home against Woking this Saturday where we urge every York City fan to show up and support their team at the start of a new era.
