York City collaborating on Centenary art project

By Dan Simmonite | 3rd December 2021

York City Football Club are collaborating with Sue Clayton on the local artist’s Centenary Art project.

The award-winning artist has embarked on an ambitious project to paint 100 unique portraits that will record a century of support for the club.

Upon completion anticipated in time for the club’s 100th Birthday in May, a mosaic of the portraits will be permanently displayed within the Fanzone concourse at the LNER Community Stadium.

The club also has plans to work with Sue in the Foundation’s Sporting Memories group.

Supporters who would like their image to be featured on the wall are encouraged to drop Sue an email or message on Twitter. Don’t forget to tell the story behind the picture you send in.

Speaking on the collaboration, Sue said: “Wow, what a fantastic journey so far, from an initial conversation on a park bench with a fan that sparked the idea to meeting the fans and telling their stories through portraiture.

“My son and I are even signed up season ticket holders now. Oh the power of York City FC and its wonderful community.”
