Fielding and Hopper sign on for new season

By Dan Simmonite | 1st August 2021

York City Football Club is delighted to announce the signings of Sam Fielding and Harrison Hopper after successful trial periods.

Both players featured throughout pre-season and have impressed Manager Steve Watson whilst training with the Minstermen.

Fielding, now 22, progressed through the youth academy at York City before making two first team appearances as a teenager during the 2016/17 season. He was snapped up by Championship side Barnsley in 2017 and stayed three years at Oakwell before spending last year with League Two Salford City.

Fielding can operate as both a centre half and holding midfielder.

20-year-old midfielder Hopper, who was raised in York, progressed through Rochdale’s academy and made two first team appearances in League Two and the EFL Trophy before joining Northern Premier League side Colne on loan in 2020.

Both players are available for selection on Tuesday night against Ossett United.

Both moves are subject to FA and National League approval.
