Pete Jameson leaves York City for EFL

By Dan Simmonite | 29th May 2022

We can confirm that goalkeeper Pete Jameson will be leaving the club this summer to take up an opportunity with a Football League side.

The shot stopper joined from Blyth Spartans in 2019 and has enjoyed a consistent period between the sticks ever since.

Jameson was voted by fans as Clubman of the Year this season alongside making 56 appearances and keeping 20 clean sheets in our promotion winning campaign.

In a statement, Pete said: “I write this message with a heavy heart that my time at York City has come to an end. This was not an easy decision on my behalf but the opportunity to go into the Football League has always been an ambition of mine and one I could not turn down.

”I can’t thank the amazing fans, players and staff enough - I have made friends for a lifetime and memories that I will never forget. The Playoff Final win was the highlight of my York City career. What an amazing day and I’m so glad and proud that I was part of it. I wish you all the very best! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

”Now onto a new chapter... Love always, Pete.”

We wish Pete all the best with his new venture and thank him for his loyalty and services to the club over the past three years. He is always welcome back at the LNER Community Stadium.
