ADVA Optical Networking Support RTC

1st September 2017

York City FC Foundation Regional Talent Club is delighted to announce the acquisition of their own automated external defibrillator courtesy of ADVA Optical Networking.

ADVA are already responsible for architecting some of the world’s most advanced networks, and were only too delighted to support the York City FC Foundation as they continue to develop young female football talent through their Regional Talent Club.

City's hugely successful RTC is one of currently only twelve FA Tier 1 national elite centres across the country, and rated alongside leading clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United. It has already produced numerous young girls of international level and moving onto Women's Super League teams.

"ADVA Optical Networking is delighted to be able to support York City Regional Talent Club Girls' Academy, to enable them to grow the sport and provide opportunities for young budding sports starts in the York area," announced John Bretherick, ADVA's UK sales manager. "At ADVA, we have a long pedigree of supporting community groups in the York area and are passionate about how we give back to the local community, with financial and employee support for good causes. We look forward to a long and lasting relationship and wish York City Regional Talent Club Girls' Academy all the best in the coming football season.”

Automated external defibrillators are essential portable electronic devices that automatically diagnose life-threatening cardiac issues and are able to immediately treat them through defibrillation.

Dale Forsdyke, head of sports science and medicine at the Regional Talent Club, added: "Unfortunately cardiac episodes do happen in sport, so we are delighted that we now have our very own RTC AED donated by ADVA.

“We always aspire to have the highest standards of medical and sports science support for our players and this will definitely enhance our provision. Having an AED pitchside with suitably trained individuals has the potential to save a player's life.”

Adrian Costello, technical director of the Regional Talent Club, stated: "I am overwhelmed by the generosity of ADVA and look forward to working with the company further this season."
