Hunt Joins Minsterbelles

By Olly Wood | 16th December 2021

York City Ladies are delighted to announce the arrival of Rebecca Hunt from Leeds United.

Hunt has spent the last four and a half years at Leeds United but makes the move to North Yorkshire ahead of a vital second half of the season for City.

Having won player of the year last year at Leeds Hunt adds more quality and a wealth of experience as we currently sit top of the North East Regional Women’s Football League.

The Chester-le-Street born midfielder has registered three goals in twelve appearances in all competitions for Leeds this season in the division above City.

Upon signing, Hunt has expressed her delight at making the move to the Minsterbelles.

She said: “York are doing incredibly well this season, and I’ve heard nothing but brilliant things about the players and set up.

“I can’t wait to get started and to hopefully help with the promotion push.”

Manager Chris Hamilton was also pleased with the latest arrival to the club.

He said: “I’m really pleased to bring Rebecca to York City.

“She is going to add more quality to our squad for the second half of the season. We have started really well but it’s important we don’t stand still now.

“On top of her ability as a player, she is a really good character and will add to the group. Rebecca has been an important player for Leeds Utd in the last couple of years so for her to want to come to us is a good sign.”
