York Inspirational Kids (YIKS) were visited by York City first-team players Cameron John, Luca Thomas, and Mo Fadera on Thursday evening.
YIKS is a support group for families of children and young people who have a disability and/or additional needs and live in the York area.
The group support each other online, offer information and signposting to help families through difficult periods as well as offering social events so that families can meet informally.
The City trio paid a visit to the Post-16 group, to learn more about one of the services that YIKS provide, and spend time with some of the young people who attend.
The lads helped the group make Christmas prints and cards and also took part in some colouring.
Cam John and Luca Thomas had a go at creating origami snowflakes, while Mo Fadera took on members of the group at table football and air hockey.
At the end of the session, the players handed out over 20 Gift Goal packages which had been purchased by York City fans.
The group were extremely grateful for the generosity shown, and we would like to thank everyone who contributed.
Speaking on the evening, City defender Cameron John said: “It has been wonderful, obviously it is great to spend time in the community and give back to the people in the community, it has been a great night.
“I have met a lot of new friends, a lot of new people, and it has been really good.”
Louise Firth, Events Co-ordinator at York Inspirational Kids, said: “We have had a fantastic night, the kids have absolutely loved it. We always really enjoy it when people from different organisations come in, and we have had a brilliant time. We are really grateful for it.”
