York City are delighted to announce the signing of attacking winger David Ajiboye from League One side Peterborough United.

The 26-year-old links up with the team until January and also provides National League promotion experience to the side following a successful spell with Sutton United.

Manager Adam Hinshelwood worked with the youngster whilst a youth team coach at Brighton & Hove Albion, before initially acquiring the winger’s services on loan in 2017 at Worthing until a permanent move transpired.

21 goals in 45 games were notched in the 2018/19 season under Hinshelwood at Worthing.

His form ultimately caught the eye of Sutton United’s manager Matt Gray at the time, who moved to make the winger his first signing as gaffer in May 2019.

After featuring in 41 games across all competitions during the curtailed 2019/20 season, his first with them, Ajiboye featured in 43 fixtures to help guide Sutton to their first ever stint in the Football League in their 123-year history.

Ajiboye played 50 times in The Us’ successful first ever Football League season, where they reached the EFL Trophy final and narrowly missed out on play-offs, scoring eight and setting up six.

Posh swooped to sign the exciting winger in June 2022, where he penned a three-year deal after an undisclosed fee was agreed.

A loan stint back at Sutton arose after ten appearances in all competitions between August and December, with the winger going on to play a further 21 games and score five for The Us.

When returning in the summer of 2023, Darren Ferguson placed trust in the winger after his hard work in pre-season caught the eye.

Ajiboye went on to rack up 55 games in League One and across all competitions, scoring four and assisting six.

With eight games played at The Posh so far this season, the speedster now joins up with us to add additional firepower and pace down the flanks.

Welcome to The Minstermen, David!

Subject to league and FA approval.
