Former York City Academy player Archie Whitfield to be welcomed to Chesterfield game in fundraising run

York City will welcome former academy player Archie Whitfield on Good Friday, when we host Chesterfield.

Archie is running from his home in Thirsk to the LNER Community Stadium to get to the game, and be welcomed to the game by the club.

In April 2025, in memory of his father Dave, former academy player Archie Whitfield will be running to every Premier League stadium consecutively, starting in Newcastle at St James’ Park and finishing in North London at the Emirates Stadium.

In the mean time, Archie is doing shorter runs to clubs which meant something to him and his father.

Archie’s father Dave sadly passed away in December 2023 as a result of a disease called Cushing’s disease, which was caused by a pituitary brain tumour.

Supporters can support Archie in his efforts by donating here, and reading more on his website here. Archie is also on Instagram: @archiewswhitfield.

Archie is running and fundraising for The Brain Charity.
