The Minstermen lost 6-1 against Altrincham at the J. Davidson Stadium in the Vanarama National League on Tuesday night.

Adam Hinshelwood made two changes to the side which took a point in Kidderminster, with Lenell John-Lewis and Alex Hunt coming into the side in place of Billy Chadwick and Dan Batty.

The hosts took the lead in the opening minute when Eddie Jones found the net from the flank.

Justin Amaluzor netted a second for Alty in the 26th minute when a four-on-two counter attack, driven by Alex Newby, was converted by the forward.

Phil Parkinson’s side scored a third just before the interval through Jake Cooper, who hit hard to bundle it in.

City had a somewhat positive opening 15 minutes in the second half, winning several corners following attacking phases.

Lenell John-Lewis had the chance to ignite a City fightback, lifting Ryan Fallowfield’s lofted ball over the top and over the bar, in the 55th minute.

Problematic Newby nearly netted Altrincham’s fourth in the 61st minute, twisting and turning in City’s box before sending a shot just wide.

Substitute Maz Kouhyar converted for City in the 65th minute, thumping a shot from outside the area past Ethan Ross.

Newby eventually got the Robins’ fourth of the night in the 71st minute, hitting a long-distance shot.

Chris Conn-Clarke, who looked a threat all night long, put up Altrincham’s fifth in the 81st minute when he rolled a lay-off into the far side of the net.

A sixth goal saw Newby convert from a close range, tight angled shot in the 87th minute, to round off an unacceptable evening for York.
