The Minstermen drew 0-0 against Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough in the Vanarama National League on Saturday afternoon.

Neither side could apply a finish to take three points off of each other, in what was a pretty end-to-end occasion that lacked a final shot for both sides.

Adam Hinshelwood made one change to his side which faced AFC Fylde previously, with Quevin Castro returning to City in place of Fin Barnes.

Kidderminster struck two wild shots inside the opening five minutes, with Cole Kpekawa and Ashley Hemmings unable to hit the target early on.

Billy Chadwick then took the Minstermen forward, sliding well to firstly keep the ball in and then drive into the box with it. His sixth minute cutback to Dan Batty resulted in a blocked left-footed strike, with the re-bound falling to a space-tight Dipo Akinyemi.

Akinyemi then nodded a header loosely into the direction of Kidderminster shot-stopper Christian Dibble in the 29th minute, following a deep Callum Howe cross,

Captain Howe was down to the ground to block Amari Morgan-Smith’s shot from even reaching George Sykes-Kenworthy in the 34th minute.

Neither side looked to piece together a clear-cut opening in the first half, with the game staying in deadlock at the interval.

Quevin Castro picked out Ryan Fallowfield five minutes into the second half, with the right-back picking out Will Davies who has a turn-and-hit shot blocked.

Hemmings looked to strike a spectacular in the 61st minute, stinging the palms of Sykes-Kenworthy who alert and down to his parry,

City executed a rapid counter-attack in the 67th minute, with Castro travelling the distance whilst Fallowfield overlapped. The right-back slid across to Batty, who drew a save from Dibble.

Regan Griffiths linked up on a one-two in the 72nd minute before arrowing a sighting at goal over the bar.

A minute later, City had the ball moving quickly again via Akinyemi. He squared the ball over to the charging Castro, who couldn’t quite reach a connection to tap home.

Caleb Richards struck a near-post effort just wide in the 77th, beating the City defender to the back-post cross.

The hosts began to bang further on City’s door, this time through Todd Miller a minute later. His long-distance shot was well held by Sykes-Kenworthy.

Kidderminster fluffed their most clear-cut chance in the 88th minute as Hemmings and Morgan-Smith exchanged passes in their two-on-one counter-attack, one time too many, before hitting an effort at goal.
