30 years since York City beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford

The 20th September marks the 30th anniversary of one of the greatest nights in club history, our unforgettable 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the League Cup.

To commemorate the occasion, a series of special events and tributes are going on across the weekend.

CELEBRATORY EVENT IN THE JORVIK LOUNGE

Organised by the club and the Supporters’ Trust, a special celebration will take place in the Jorvik Lounge on matchday, reuniting members of our team and management who were involved in that memorable night.

We are honoured to welcome Sue Little, widow of the late Alan Little, our manager at the time, along with assistant Derek Bell, and a host of players who starred at the Theatre of Dreams, namely Wayne Hall, Nick Peverell, Paul Atkin, Steve Tutill, and Nigel Pepper.

Joining them will be the voices behind the match, BBC Radio York commentary team Barry Parker and Alastair Yeomans.

Some of these special guests will feature in our half-time pitchside interview, so please give them a warm reception.

SPECIAL EDITION OF THE CITIZEN

Supporters attending Saturday’s match against Solihull Moors can pick up a commemorative edition of the matchday programme.

The cover features an iconic image from that famous game, paired with our former club crest.

Inside, there is an in-depth interview with the scorer of our opening two goals at Old Trafford, Paul Barnes, alongside an extended ‘History Man’ section – four pages expertly curated by club historian Paul Bowser.

ANNIVERSARY PIN BADGES

Our limited edition pin badges, designed in the style of our classic 1995 away shirt and presented in a collector’s box, have already sold out following huge demand.

Just 95 were produced to mark our 1995 achievement, and we thank supporters for their fantastic response.

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

Across the weekend, supporters can also enjoy a host of anniversary-themed content across our social media channels, as we look back on one of the most remarkable results in the history of our football club.
