Joint Statement: Hartlepool United FC, York City FC & York City Supporters Trust | 2025/26

Ahead of this weekend’s match between Hartlepool United and York City, both clubs, with the York City Supporters Trust, would like to remind all supporters of the importance of enjoying the match and the matchday experience in an enjoyable but respectful manner.

Hartlepool United, York City FC, and York City Supporters Trust have worked closely and will continue to do so with Cleveland Police and North Yorkshire Police to ensure a safe and enjoyable match-day experience for everyone.

Once again, the York City Supporters Trust (YCST) has been involved in this process to ensure the away supporters’ interests are respected where possible.

We urge all supporters to represent their clubs in the right way. To proudly back your team behind the white line and in the stands, and importantly, to respect the town and citizens of Hartlepool, as well as the opposition supporters.

Match-day Arrangements & Key Information for Supporters

To help ensure a smooth and enjoyable match-day, the following measures have been put in place:

Designated Away Supporter Pubs:

York supporters are welcome at Jackson Wharf and Rosie’s Bar, both are within walking distance of the train station.
Please note that the Church Square and Church Street premises will not permit entry to away supporters.

View the route from Hartlepool Train Station to the away supporters bar by clicking here.

Dispersal Order:

In effect from 8am Saturday 4th October to 8am Sunday 5th October, covering Hartlepool Town Centre.
This allows officers to disperse individuals or groups acting in an anti-social or disorderly manner. Non-compliance may result in arrest.
The dispersal area is identical to the football dispersal zone (map attached here).

Contingency Hold Back:

This would only be implemented if circumstances on the day warrant it — for example, a last-minute contentious decision.
If activated, York supporters may be held back for a short period post-match to prevent disorder or injury.
Importantly, this will not affect onward travel, including the 14:59 train.
Communication would be delivered via the stadium tannoy system, with stewards and officers assisting.

Travel back to York:

North Yorkshire-based British Transport Police will be present on the trains back to York from Hartlepool.

These officers have no affiliation to Cleveland Police and are simply there to make sure all supporters can return back to York in a safe manner.

Any York supporters that does not hold a valid ticket for this fixture should not travel to Hartlepool this Saturday.

With the game being a 12:30pm kick-off, supporters will be able to back their team from the comfort of their home via DAZN.

We all want a memorable and competitive game, full of passion and energy. By supporting responsibly, respecting each other, and following match-day guidance, we can ensure that everyone has a positive experience.

We thank all supporters for their cooperation and look forward to a great match.
