Families looking for fun, affordable ways to spend the October half term are invited to take part in “Give It a Go Week”, a special programme of free and low-cost activities running from 27th Oct to 31st Oct across York, but showcasing what is always on offer to young people across York.

Organised by the partnership of local providers — including York Knights, York Theatre Royal, Door 84, York City FC Foundation, The Place and others — Give It a Go Week encourages young people, to try something new, stay active, and make the most of their local community.

The week-long programme features a wide range of activities, such as: Sports taster sessions, Creative workshops and Youth Clubs

Paula Stainton, York City Foundation Manager said, “We’re delighted to see this come to fruition after months of discussions, being part of the development and consultation for the City of York Council’s Young People’s strategy and part of the newly create York Youth Partnership focusing on delivering on the strategy’s priorities. One thing we always hear from our young people, is how they don’t know what is available for them to do in the City, and this seeks to address that as a first step.”

Give It a Go Week is a perfect opportunity for young people to discover what’s on their doorstep, whether it’s a sport they’ve never tried, a new hobby, or just spending time together with friends, there’s something for everyone.

Most activities are free or very low cost, but spaces may be limited, so early booking where needed is encouraged. Full details of events and how to sign up are available at https://www.giveitagoweek.co.uk/
