York City Football Club Foundation launches 2026 York Charity Sleepout

York City Football Club Foundation launches York Charity Sleepout 2026 to add to the £80,000 raised over 3 previous events.

Rough sleeping is a very prevalent issue on the streets of our beautiful City and there are countless hidden homeless issues, from those who are sofa surfing or young people who feel they cannot stay at home. For anyone walking around the City of York, it’s clear to see that homelessness is an increasing problem in our community.

Part of what York City FC Foundation does, is to work to make a real difference in the community and campaign for change. Helping to tackle homelessness and support disadvantaged families in our area, is something they care about  and have supported since their first Sleepout in 2019 at Bootham Crescent.

This year, they have teamed up to support Kitchen for Everyone York and HOPING Street Kitchen this year, to ensure that every penny fundraised for York goes to the people of York from the York Charity Sleepout 2026 and to support charities working directly to offer frontline services for rough sleepers and to support disadvantaged families in tackling food poverty and holiday hunger.

This wouldn’t be possible with the generous donation from the York City Supporters Trust. Their  £500 donation contribute to the necessary event running costs, so that all the sponsorship and funds raised can reach those who need it most.

Seth Sowerby, Trust Chairperson, said ”York City Supporters’ Trust are proud to partner with York City Foundation to sponsor the York Charity Sleepout. This event makes a real difference in our community, and supporting it aligns with our commitment to making a positive impact beyond the football pitch. Together, we stand united in raising awareness and vital funds to tackle homelessness and support those in need within our city”

The event will also be supported once again by YO1 Radio as media partners and Bo Concept who sponsor the Sleepout’s Diary Room providing the most fabulous chair.

The Foundation are currently recruiting sleepers who are prepared to give up their warm beds for one evening to raise funds for these very worthy causes.
