We are pleased to announce that goalkeeper George Sykes-Kenworthy has signed a new contract with the club.
The new deal will keep him at the LNER Community Stadium for our first season back in the EFL.
The 26-year-old initially joined City from Bradford Park Avenue in October 2023, and went on to record seven clean sheets, as we secured our National League status.
His performances saw him earn a place in the England C contingency squad, before gaining further valuable experience during a successful loan spell with Alfreton Town in 2024/25.
The shot-stopper remained an important part of the first-team group throughout the 2025/26, playing his role as City secured promotion back to the Football Legaue.
Everyone at York City is delighted that George will remain with the club as we prepare for our return to the EFL.
Upon signing the new contract, the goalkeeper told us: “I’m pleased to be extending my time at the club and continuing the journey. Can’t wait for the new season to start and for the LNER to be rocking.”
Subject to league, EFL, and FA approval.
