City fell to defeat to the hands of Peterborough United at the LNER this evening.
City had the first shot of the game. Craig Hewitt going for goal from just outside the box, which flew over the bar.
In the 6th minute, Paddy McLaughlin left the field as a City player for one final time.
Charlie McArthur had a good chance to open the scoring after 18 minutes. The defender getting on the end of an Alex Newby cross but his header went just over.
Peterborough United took the lead after 26 minutes. Brandon Khela with a left-footed shot from the edge of the box which found the bottom corner.
The visitors looked to add a second not long after. Carl Johnston seeing a shot from inside the box well blocked by Morgan Williams.
City drew level at the start of the second half. Alex Newby with some clever footwork down the left before creating room to shoot and finding the bottom corner.
Ollie Pearce nearly added another moment later. The City no.10 getting on the end of a Jack Hunt cross but his header went just wide.
Posh sub Chris Conn-Clarke came close to retaking the lead for the visitors but his shot on the half-volley from outside the box bounced wide of the mark.
Pearce looked to bounce on an error from Alex Bass in the Posh goal when he spilt Arthur Read’s cross but the poke on the ball from Pearce went wide.
Harry Leonard found himself baring down on goal with 12 minutes to go but his dink over Alfie McNally went wide of the left-hand post.
Peterborough retook the lead with 10 minutes to go. A cross from the right reaching James Dornelly at the back post who headed past McNally and into the net.
York looked to respond instantly when Ben Brookes went for goal from inside the box which was well blocked by the visitors.
The Posh held on for a narrow victory.
