York City U18s are back on the road this Saturday afternoon as they take on Morecambe in the EFL Youth Alliance.
The young Minstermen will face the Shrimps at Trimpell Sports & Social Club in Morecambe, with kick-off set for 11:30am.
On opening day last week, we travelled to Preston North End and ground out a solid point to show for defensive resilience.
Morecambe began their season in style, winning 3-1 at home to Notts County, as Tom Ellershaw, Max Oldfield and Zac Heywood all got on the scoresheet for them.
In 2025/26, the Lancashire outfit finished second bottom of the EFL Youth Alliance North West, accumulating 34 points from 31 games.
The last time our youngsters played the Shrimps was back in 2017, when an Isaac Overton goal secured a 1-0 win for City in the League Cup.
Previewing a month that consists of a string of away trips, Academy Manager Dan Wilson said:
“We’ve got a few away games on the spin, but it will be good for the boys. It build camaraderie.
“I said to them that if they put their mind to it, and come in with the right mindset, they will learn the fastest.
“We’ve had less experience than the vast majority of our opponents have had coming through the Football League system. In theory, we are in very new territory, but that gives us the opportunity to learn fast, and if we can do that, I think we will do really well. The lads will compete all year, I am convinced of it.”
