York’s first away game back in the EFL ends in a draw in South Yorkshire.

The first chance for the Minstermen came when a cross was whipped in from a York corner where Ollie Banks got his head on the end of it, and it floated narrowly over the Rotherham goal.

The first set piece for York came in the 18th minute when Alex Newby took a shot from a freekick just outside of the box and the Rotherham goalkeeper narrowly stole the ball.

Rotherham’s goal came in the 20th minute when Kian Spence whipped the ball in from the corner and found Ewan Otoo in the center of the box who finishes it to give Rotherham the lead within the first 20 minutes.

It was not long before York equalized as Harry Boyes crosses it and who else would get on the end of it other than Alex Newby who shoots and finishes it with his left foot.

Alex Newby and Ollie Pearce with some fabulous one two passing as it leads to a close chance barely missed by Ollie Pearce with incredible defending by Rotherham just before half time.

An offside goal for York from a lovely through ball that came to Ollie Pearce where he finishes it, and he is just offside.

Lovely play from Ollie Pearce again to backheel the ball to Alex Newby who goes just wide of the goal.

Rotherham chance came in the 81st minute as Kian Spence shoots in the box but it hits the side netting.

First booking of the game comes in additional time as Rotherham’s Brandon Cover is booked for a reckless challenge on a York City player.

A late chance for York as Jeff King receives the ball in the Rotherham box and he takes a shot and it floats over the bar.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw and another point on the board for the Minstermen.
