Age UK’s official charity partner fixture.

We are pleased to say that today’s fixture is our Age UK York’s official charity partner fixture.

Join us in together Stamping Out Loneliness. This winter, many older people in York will struggle with loneliness, Isolation and poverty. We need to raise funds to help, offering companionship, support at home, financial advice and winter safety.

Each day many older people struggle with loneliness, social isolation and extreme poverty and this winter their needs will only increase.

Age UK York is York’s local and independent Age UK. We have existed for over 50 years to be there to help tackle these challenges and aim to be the first port of call for anyone with an age-related need.

In York more than one in four of residents have shared that they experience loneliness and across our city, a third of older people live alone.

We cannot take on this crisis alone. We need your help and trust so together we can offer this lifeline to older people in need across York.

We are hoping to raise funds so that we can continue to offer friendship, support at home, help and advice about finances and deliver warm winter packs.

All the funds kindly given in support of Age UK York’s Winter Campaign – every single penny – will go to supporting local people in York.

Every person matters. Our wonderful team of staff and volunteers tackle these scourges of loneliness, isolation and poverty each day providing an array of services, a helping hand and a listening ear. You can play a crucial role in our story, and those we help, by kindly supporting our local charity and the difference we can make. Together.

940,000 older people aged 65+ in the UK say they’re often or always lonely.

So many of us are so fortunate to have older relatives, friends and neighbours and please help us be there for fellow older residents of York this winter and beyond.

Let’s Stamp Out Loneliness. Together.

How You Can Help

Donate: In order to provide as much support as possible, donations are always welcome and can be made via justgiving.com/campaign/stampoutloneliness.

Volunteer: People of all ages are encouraged to volunteer to spend around one hour per week chatting, sharing stories, or simply offering companionship to those who are lonely. Many older people in York have asked for a bit of friendly social contact, and the charity would love to match them up with volunteers who will receive full training and ongoing support from Age UK York staff team.
