York City can confirm that midfielder Finlay Barnes’ contract has been mutually cancelled with immediate effect.
The 23-year-old joined the Minstermen in July 2023 from Suffolk based side Leiston FC.
Barnes featured six times for York, making his debut off the bench against Hartlepool in January 2024.
Loan spells away at Darlington and Scarborough Athletic took up most of the creative midfielder’s playing season.
He featured six times for Quakers, netting twice, before going on to feature 21 times at Seadogs, scoring four.
