Former assistant manager Kingsley James is set to run an ultramarathon in order to fundraise for defibrillators.
The ultramarathon on May 25th will start at Bramall Lane before heading to Hillsborough, Oakwell, John Smith’s Stadium, Valley Parade, and Elland Road.
James was assistant manager to John Askey between November 2021-22, aiding the Minstermen’s promotion from the regional league via a successful Vanarama National League North Play-Off Final against Boston United.
Money raised from the ultramarathon will help towards placing defibrillators around local sports facilities across the Wakefield region.
Speaking on the decision to undergo an ultramarathon for defibrillator funding, James said: “All sports facilities that have children and adults playing sports should have immediate access to defibrillators right next to the pitch, or court, in case of an emergency.
“Early defibrillation saves lives. If defibrillation occurs within five minutes of a cardiac arrest, the person has a survival chance of 50-70%, this drops by 10% for every further minute they do not have access to a defibrillator.
“The most important thing is being equipped to deal with any incident that may occur.
“No person should be at risk because the access to a defibrillator isn’t right next to the facility being used.”

Good luck and all the best from everybody at York City Football Club, Kingsley.
