Guy Mowbray announced as new club ambassador

We are very pleased to announce that lifelong City fan and commentator Guy Mowbray has agreed to become a new club ambassador.

Guy Mowbray is in his 22nd season as one of the main commentary voices on Match of the Day, and has been the lead football commentator for BBC Television since 2010, when he succeeded the late John Motson.

York-born and bred and a lifelong City fan, Guy’s broadcasting career began with covering the Minstermen on the Clubcall network, before moving into radio with BBC Radio York and Minster FM. He then first moved into television in 1997 with Eurosport, before joining ITV in 1999 for a 5-year spell.

He has commentated on 7 World Cups (including 5 finals, the last 4 consecutively for BBC TV), 7 European Championships (4 finals), 3 Women’s World Cups, 3 Women’s Euros, multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, plus over 2000 club games from all of the games major competitions.

A voice recognisable to millions, Guy is also heard on the best-selling EA Sports FC series of games (formerly FIFA), and calls the action on Gladiators
