We are proud to unveil Age UK York as a brand new charity partner ahead of the 2025/26 season.
After the huge success of last season working alongside four charity partners, we are pleased to be once again doing the same with Age UK York, the first confirmed charity involved.
Last year, whilst hosting a gala dinner raffle along with the mascot gold cup race, we managed to raise funds for all our partners to help with their work in our community.
Each charity also has its own dedicated focus fixture, allowing each charity to showcase itself on its own dedicated match day with us all at the LNER Community Stadium.
Age UK York
For over 50 years Age UK York has existed to support local people and communities across York in enjoying later life and accessing support when they need it. Whilst part of the well-known Age UK network we are ourselves our own independent charity. Our focus is ever here on York, its people and communities.
Age UK York are ever local, independent and here for you.
As Age UK York we believe that an ageing population is a cause for celebration though we also know that too many older people feel marginalised, overlooked and often cannot access the support they need when they need it to enjoy a good quality later life. We offer a range of local services alongside our range of partners so we can be here when needed. From helping someone home after a stay at hospital, running our ever-popular social clubs and befriending services in tackling loneliness, giving free expert advice and information in addressing poverty to our home help and personal care service. We also provide a fantastic Keep Your Pet service helping the owner and their beloved pet be looked after at time of crisis.
As a local, independent charity, we rely on the kindness of our supporters to enable Age UK York to keep serving the older people of York. Our work is made possible with thanks to the support of donations from the public, our social enterprises, public sector contracts, and charitable grants. We also run four charity shops in York which make a considerable difference in providing vital funding for our work. Every donation given and penny raised goes right back to our work here in York.
Speaking on the partnership, Chris Farrell, Head of Transformation at Age UK York said, “As long-time fans of YCFC it’s been the highlight of the year to learn that Age UK York has been chosen as one of the official charities for next season. We’ve been supporting local people and their families with concerns about aging for over 50 years. We’re constantly in awe of the amazing things the people we work with achieve, however sometimes they need a helping hand to do this and that’s where we step in. From information and advice, to walking your dog, to personal care or joining us at a day club, we’re here.
“However, no one can benefit from our support if they don’t know about us, which is why it is so important to be working with York City to raise awareness of our services with YCFC supporters and across the city. We believe no one in York needs to face aging alone, and with the support of York City FC we will work together to ensure no one will”.
