As we return to the EFL, here are some key dates ahead of the upcoming season.
We will discover our fixture schedule next week, on Thursday 25th June, at 12pm.
The draws for the First Round of the Carabao Cup and the Vertu Trophy are also set to take place on fixture release day, with more details to be confirmed.
The First Round of the Carabao Cup will be played on the weekend of Saturday 8th August; however, the Minstermen start slightly earlier, with a Preliminary Round tie at home to Crawley Town on Monday 3rd August.
Our Sky Bet League Two campaign will get underway on the weekend of Saturday 16th August.
Entering the Vertu Trophy as well, Round One begins on the week commencing Monday 21st September.

BROADCAST SELECTIONS IN 2026/27
The opening weekend of EFL fixtures across the Championship, League One and League Two will be live on Sky Sports and Sky Sports+ and confirmed on EFL fixture release day.
- By 2nd July 2026, selections will be announced in respect of all live broadcast matches to be played before the end of September 2026.
- By 31st July 2026 selections will be confirmed in respect of all live broadcast matches to be played up to, and including, the weekend of 8th-11th January 2027.
- By 6th November 2026, selections shall be announced in respect of all matches to be played up to, and including, the midweek of 2nd-3rd March 2027.
This once again provides fans and Clubs up to five months’ notice. By selecting TV picks early and giving much more notice, fans will be able to plan with certainty when making travel and any hotel arrangements.
- Selections for matches scheduled for the weekend of 5th-8th March 2027 will be announced by 5th February 2027, followed by weekly announcements looking four-weeks ahead. (For example, the weekend of 12th-15th March 2027 will be announced by Friday 12th February 2027).
- Selections for matches scheduled for the penultimate weekend of the regular season will be announced three weeks in advance.
- Selections for matches scheduled for the final weekend of the regular season will be announced the week prior.
