The MinsterBelles are back on the road this weekend for the final time in 2024 as we make the journey to the Jim Fowlers Memorial Ground to take on Chorley FC Women (2pm kick-off).

Emily Senior’s side were held to a 1-1 draw last time out at York Sport Stadium. Grace Sykes continued her fine form, breaking the deadlock in the 27th minute when her strike found the back of the net. Barnsley FC Women responded well and levelled up the game in the 74th minute through Alayna Millard. The MinsterBelles went close late on through Katie Astle, who first had her penalty saved, before she hit the cross bar from a close-range header.

The point helped Senior’s side climb out of the relegation zone for the second time this season.

The Opposition

Chorley FC Women have made a brilliant start to the season and sit in third place in the FA Women’s National League Division One North table, three points adrift of league leaders Leeds United Women.

Carmelo Ruggieri’s side are on a run of two games unbeaten, having booked their place in the Lancashire FA Women’s County Cup courtesy of a win over Fleetwood Town Wrens two weeks ago and most recently, they scored five goals as they beat Norton & Stockton Ancients.

The two sides last met on the opening day of the season, when Ella Ritchie opened the scoring in the 16th minute before a double from Molly Wood helped the visitors take the three points.
