The Minstermen return to Emirates FA Cup action this coming Saturday when we take on National League North side Chester FC at the Leap76 Stadium in the First Round proper of the competition.
Neal Ardley’s side head into this weekend’s fixture on the back of last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to FC Halifax Town, where a late Paddy McLaughlin goal rescued a late point for City.
The draw ended a run of two straight defeats for the Minstermen in the National League, but Ardley will be hoping his side can bounce back to winning ways after they required a replay to beat Southern Premier League side Needham Market in the Fourth Qualifying Round a few weeks ago.
This weekend’s hosts head into this cup tie in good form, having won six games on the bounce in all competitions.
They currently sit in the final playoff position in the sixth tier, but secured this weekend’s tie against the Minstermen with a 2-0 win over National League side Hartlepool United three weeks ago at the Suit Direct Stadium.
