Match Preview | Gainsborough Trinity (A) | Saturday 4th January

York City continue the Road to Wembley this Saturday with a trip to Gainsborough Trinity in the Fourth Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy (3pm kick off).

City break away from league action sitting back on top of the Vanarama National League table, following a 1-0 New Year’s Day win over Gateshead, with Marvin Armstrong securing the points.

Our January schedule continues with three straight away games, starting with our first trip to Gainsborough’s Kal Group Stadium since 2018.

We progressed to the Fourth Round of the FA Trophy with a 3-1 home victory against Darlington in December, while the Holy Blues have had to advance through four rounds to get this far.

Along the way, they upset the likes of National League North sides Chester and Rushall Olympic, while overcoming Kettering Town and Clitheroe too.

The Minstermen last lifted the silverware in 2017, and will be looking to do it again this season, but will have to find a way past former manager Russ Wilcox’s Northern Premier League outfit first.
