Match Preview | Gateshead (A) | Friday 18th April

Two games in four days await York City over the Easter weekend, starting on Good Friday away at Gateshead (12:30pm kick-off).

After a thoroughly entertaining afternoon of football last Saturday when City recorded a 7-2 win against Aldershot Town – the first time we’ve scored seven in a game since 2011 – we head north for our penultimate away game of the season, with a chance to extend our winning run to five consecutive games.

Barnet lead the title race by six points, but the lunchtime start allows the gap to be potentially halved before the table-toppers even kick off.

Gateshead are in a fight of their own, looking to solidify a play-off spot. They sit in fifth, and despite three straight defeats, have turned their form around with recent victories over Dagenham & Redbridge and Forest Green Rovers heading into Friday’s clash.

Our last meeting with the Heed came on New Year’s Day, with Marvin Armstrong’s first-half header the difference between the sides at a packed-out LNER Community Stadium.
