Match Preview | Southend United (A) | Wednesday 20th August

The Minstermen face midweek action at Southend United this Wednesday night, the second of four successive away trips (7:45pm kick-off).

We secured our first win of the 2025/26 season on Saturday, as late goals from Mark Kitching and Josh Stones sealed a 2-0 win on our longest-ever away trip, at Truro City.

Southend were also in action at the weekend – they also won by the same scoreline, at home to Tamworth.

Charley Kendall put the Blues ahead early on, before Gus Scott-Morriss made sure of the victory with ten minutes to go.

Despite being the beaten play-off finalists last term, the hosts will be sky-high on confidence, having won both their first two opening games.

The last time City made the journey to Roots Hall, we netted a late equaliser to claim a point on matchday one of 2024/25.
