Match Preview | Southend United vs York City

By Ryan Brookes | Image by Tom Poole

Neal Ardley’s men face a trip to Essex this weekend, as they look for three points away at Southend United on Saturday (10th February, 3pm kick off).

The Minstermen head into this one following a home point against Maidenhead, and with a busy February ahead, City will want to pick up their first win of the month as soon as possible.

Our opponents will also be looking to claim a first February victory after last Saturday’s action saw them fall to a 1-0 defeat to Gateshead.

Both sides sit on 34 points, lingering over the drop zone, which paints this upcoming clash as a crucial one, and York City will be hoping new man Danny Amos can make an instant impact on a potential debut.

Travel

Stadium Postcode: SS2 6NQ

Parking: There is no car parking available for visiting fans at the ground itself. There is the Southend High School For Boys (SS0 0RG) which also offers car parking for £5 per vehicle (the school entrance is on Prittlewell Road).

Street parking is in abundance – being situated in the residential area that it is with no permit holder sections, you’ll just need to avoid the yellow lines.

Train: The closest station to the ground is Prittlewell on the Greater Anglia service, which is about a five-minute walk away. It is served by trains from London Liverpool Street. As you exit the station walk up the hill and turn right, then follow the road until you come to a crossroad with traffic lights. On your right will be the ‘Fish House’ fish and chip shop. Pass this, cross at the lights and turn right. Walk about 100 yards and the ground is tucked away on your left.

Other stations in Southend include Southend Victoria (Greater Anglia), Southend Central (C2C) and Southend East (C2C).

Bus: York Pullman are running a bus to the fixture.
