Match Preview | York City vs FC Halifax Town

The Minstermen return to home league action this coming Saturday evening when we take on FC Halifax Town in the Vanarama National League at the LNER Community Stadium in front of the TNT Sports cameras.

At a later kick off time of 5:30pm, the two sides will go head-to-head in the first Yorkshire derby this season.

This weekend’s visitors travel up to North Yorkshire currently sitting in 6th place in the National League table, and they’ll be looking for three points this weekend which will help build on their impressive start to the season.

They head into this weekend’s fixture in fine form, having won four games in the National League on the bounce.

Save time, buy online! Supporters can purchase advance tickets online, over the phone or in-person from the LNER Community Stadium.

Advance ticket prices for this fixture are as follows: 

  • Adult – £22
  • Concession (60+) – £17
  • Student – £10 (Can only be bought from ticketing office with Student ID to be shown)
  • Age 14-18 – £10
  • Age 8-13 – £7
  • Age 2-7* – Free (Can only be claimed from the ticketing office)
  • Age 0-1* – Free (Can only be claimed from the ticketing office in advance. East & West Stand top 5 rows only)
  • Carers** – Free

* Please Note – Prices for Adults, Concessions, Students, Ages 14-18 and 8-13 increase by £1 if purchased on matchday. 

The fixture is NOT all ticket and pay on the day is available at the ticket booth located at the exterior of the West Stand. However, we encourage online sales due to anticipated queues.

All supporters purchasing online must input a valid email address on their account in order to receive their ticket. When logging in to the online system, you can use your email address as your supporter number.

Away Fans

FC Halifax Town supporters will be situated in the West Stand Overflow section (WG, WH & WI)

Tickets can be purchased using the ‘Away Fans’ section on the club’s official online ticketing platform.

Hospitality

We are pleased to announce that former England cricketer and commentator David Lloyd will join Iain Dunn as our hospitality guest for Monday’s fixture.

The 76-year-old is a former cricketer for Lancashire County Cricket Club, as well as having also represented England in Test Matches and One Day internationals.

Following his retirement as a cricketer, he became an umpire and became cricket coach for both Lancashire and England, before moving into commentary where he has gone on to work with the likes of Sky Sports.

Doors open at 3pm for Hospitality guests. LNER Lounge will be used by both diners and non-diners, whilst the Jorvik Lounge will be used as an overflow room for non-dining customers.

Parking

Matchday parking spaces in the Monks Cross Park & Ride car park can be booked here for £5.

Please note, parking spaces in other areas of the Vangarde Shopping Park site are restricted to a maximum of 2 hours on matchdays.

We ask that any supporters planning on parking in residential areas to please respect our neighbours, pay attention to any parking restrictions, and avoid blocking access to any driveways.

A 52-page physical matchday programme is available for this fixture and will be sold at every open turnstile by programme sellers for £3. This week’s edition features an exclusive interview with goalkeeper Rory Watson and much more!

50/50 Raffle tickets will also be available to purchase ahead of the game, as well as online by clicking here, from sellers in high-vis jackets at every open turnstile right up until kick-off, with some great prizes up for grabs.

Foundation Fan Zone Stage Music – Sponsored by Jorvik Radio

Fervent Red will be our Foundation Fan Zone Stage entertainment for this weekend’s game against FC Halifax Town.

Fervent Red are an indie rock band from York. They played their first gig in York in June 2022 and have since gone onto headline multiple venues around the city as well as numerous supporting gigs. With flavours of brit pop and notes of punk, Fervent Red released two singles in April 2023. Both of which received air time on BBC Music Introducing for York.

Y22 Bus Service

The Y22 Shuttle Bus service, kindly organised by York City Supporters Trust and First York, will be running for this fixture.

The Y22 service runs from two hours before kick-off and after the game until the ground is clear, up to 90 minutes after the full-time whistle. This increases the frequency of buses running between Stonebow in the City Centre and the Monks Cross Park & Ride stop, as well as freeing up capacity on the existing number 9 route.

Fans wishing to use the service will need to purchase the Y22 tickets from the First Buss app, which are priced at:

  • Adult return: £3.50
  • Child/Concessionary return: £2
  • Adult single: £2
  • Child/Concessionary single: £1

No other tickets are valid on the service.

Previous Meetings

FC Halifax Town completed a league double over the Minstermen last season in the Vanarama National League.

Both sides first met at The Shay in October 2022 where the hosts ran out 1-0 winners, before the return game here at the LNER Community Stadium saw the West Yorkshire side run out 3-0 winners back in April.
