Match Preview | York City vs Gateshead

The Minstermen start the new year at home this coming Monday as we take on Gateshead at the LNER Community Stadium (3pm kick off).

Both sides went head-to-head on Boxing Day in the North East at the Gateshead International Stadium in the first of these two games being played in the National League over the festive period.

Gateshead have made a promising start to the season in the National League in the opening five months of the season.

Despite losing manager Mike Williamson to Milton Keynes Dons only a couple of months, the North-East based club have continued to do well this season in the league as they remain in and around the playoff positions.

Hospitality

We are pleased to announce that Gordon Staniforth will join Iain Dunn as our hospitality guest for Monday’s fixture.

Staniforth joined the Minstermen originally on loan from Hull City in December 1976, before making his deal permanent with the club only a month later.

Becoming the first-ever City player to do so, Staniforth became York’ Clubman of the Year two years running, in both the 1977/78 and 1978/79 campaigns.

After making well over 100 appearances for the Minstermen, the prolific striker left the club for Carlisle United in 1979, before he returned to Bootham Crescent for a second spell between 1987 and 1988.

Hospitality bookings have now closed for this fixture.

Doors open at 12:30pm for Hospitality guests on Monday.
