York City made it three wins in a row with victory over AFC Fylde at Mill Farm.

AFC Fylde were quick to launch the ball forward. Gavin Massey sliding the ball across the face of the City goal but nobody was there to get the crucial touch.

Massey found himself with another glorious chance when he got on the end of a Nick Haughton through ball but his shot from the edge of the box was well saved by Harrison Male.

City’s first chance came from the left-hand side when Cam John played a good ball into the box. Ollie Pearce jumped highest to meet the ball but his effort went just over the bar.

Dan Batty was looking to sting the hosts from range but his shot took a heavy deflection which allowed the ball to bounce into the arms of Ben Winterbottom.

Ashley Nathaniel-George teed himself up in the 28th minute when he looked to bend a shot goalwards but it fell wide of the right-hand post.

Arguably the best chance of the half so far came when Junior Luamba latched onto a ball forward down the right-hand side, he charged at goal but his shot was well saved by Winterbottom.

Pearce was next to test the keeper. His low driven shot from inside the box was well kept out by the diving Winterbottom at his near post.

City were awarded a penalty on the stroke of half time for an alleged hand ball in the box. Pearce stepped up to slot the ball into the back of the net.

The second half started with few chances, the first coming in the 58th minute when Marvin Armstrong got on the end of a cross but he dragged his shot wide from inside the box.

The game sprung into life with 20 minute to go. City doubled the lead when a ball across the box was left by Lewis Richardson which then fell kindly to Joe Felix who fired the ball into the net.

City added a third moments after, a corner swung in was bobbled around before Malachi Fagan-Walcott got the golden touch to steer the ball home.

Fylde had seen few chances in the second half but did get a goal for themselves in the 80th minute. Nick Haughton finding the top corner with a shot from inside the box.

The last chance of the game came when a cross from the right-hand side met substitute Billy Chadwick at the back post but his shot went over the bar.
