York City’s unbeaten start to the season ended against Solihull Moors, in what turned into a scrappy affair at the LNER.

The first chance of the game came 2 minutes in, a cleverly worked York corner forcing Laurie Walker into making a good save.

Fagan-Walcott then came close with an ambitious effort from just outside the box which dipped over the crossbar.

York’s next best chance came on the 12th minute mark, with Hunt forcing another good save from Walker with his shot across goal.

Tyresse Sinclair came close to finding the breakthrough with a diving header, after some good work down the right hand side from Joe Felix, but had his effort saved.

Just before the half hour mark, Kitching fired a low cross which evaded the path of Ollie Pearce, City’s number 10 would then go close again only moments later but his header sailed over the bar.

After Solihulls first shot of the game was blocked by York, City then went up the pitch with Joe Gray trying to lob the keeper from distance, his effort however went wide of the post.

After a clever chipped pass from Alex Hunt which broke the Solihull line, Sinclair came close again but his effort was saved by Walker.

Hunt had City’s next best effort with a low shot from distance, after some more good work from a York corner, which were becoming ever more increasing in the first half.

The game remained goalless at half time, The Minstermen however had dominated the ball and had the clearest chances of both sides going into the interval.

Joe Felix had the first chance of the second half with his effort from the corner of the box, rattling the crossbar and then bouncing the wrong side of the line.

An hour into the game, City still found themselves the better side but were still yet to find the back of the net.

On the 70th minute mark, a back-pedalling Male fell into the back of the net, which in turn collapsed the net creating a lengthy stoppage as the ground staff tried to repair it.

Ollie Pearce again had a chance, the Striker however couldn’t get the ball under control as it rolled into the palms of Walker.

Solihull then had their best two chances of the game in quick succession, the first being blocked then the rebound saved by Male.

Olley who had only been introduced minutes earlier had a good effort blocked by the Solihull defense, then found himself making an excellent last ditch tackle to end the visitors counter attack.

Solihull however broke through in the last minute of the game, Jacob Wakeling going one on one with Male and slotting it past the City keeper to ensure the Midland’s outfit went home with all 3 points.

This however was not the last act of the game as Dan Creaney found himself getting sent off while being on the Solihull bench after the goal celebrations.
