The Minstermen drew 1-1 against Oldham Athletic at the LNER Community Stadium in the Vanarama National League on Tuesday night.

Mike Fondop’s second half opener was cancelled out shortly after through Will Davies, to secure City a point at home.

Neal Ardley made a few changes to the side which drew to Dagenham & Redbridge on the Saturday afternoon prior, most notably giving a start to loanee Charlie Allen after he signed in the week.

Dipo Akinyemi dropped out following his injury sustained, with Lenell John-Lewis and Fin Barnes dropping to the bench too.

A largely uneventful first half followed between both sides despite the tasty atmosphere from both sides of the ground.

Dan Batty looked lively in the middle for City, striking just over the crossbar in the 15th minute to test the waters.

George Sykes-Kenworthy was wise to the corner in the 21st minute, reading the swing of the cross which was goal-bound.

Joe Garner looked to have squandered a golden opportunity in the 28th minute, tapping a cross wide from a few yards out, with his blushes spared by the linesman who rose his flag.

Oldham pinged over a chance in the 40th minute from an attacking free-kick.

Mike Fondop smacked the woodwork shorting after the turn of the half after Garner’s lay off unlocked the space.

Loanee Charlie Allen then drew a saw from Mathew Hudson in the 49th minute, following Danny Amos’ floating back-post cross.

With a lot of the ball in the majority of the second half, Oldham eventually struck a opener through Fondop in the 61st minute.

Rising highest from a cross, Fondop latched a header past the rushing Sykes-Kenworthy.

City soon responded from a corner through Will Davies in the 70th minute, who diverted Will Smith’s header towards goal from the corner.

Substitute Lenell John-Lewis could’ve turned the lone point into all three in the 86th minute.

Amos’ pinpoint cross was spilled by Hudson, with John-Lewis on location but steering the flash chance wide.
