York City rescued a point in the dying seconds through a Josh Stones against Boston United at the LNER.

York nearly had the opener inside the first minute. Josh Stones’ shot from inside the box was kept out superbly by Killan Barrett in the Boston goal.

Alex Newby went in search of the opener shortly after but his shot from just inside the box flew just wide of the right-hand post.

City would have been feeling unlucky to not be leading after 8 minutes when Ollie Banks’ shot was parried by Barrett into the path of Newby who pinged his shot off the crossbar from inside the box.

The first half dominance paid off in the 38th minute. Banks with a great ball through to Joe Grey down the right-hand side who pulled the ball back to Ollie Pearce who guided the ball home.

Stones nearly added a second on the stroke of half time when the ball broke to him inside the Boston half. His left-footed shot was well saved by Barrett.

The final chance in the first half saw Pearce with ball cut the ball back to Fagan-Walcott inside the box who dragged the ball into the net, only to see his goal chalked out by the offside flag.

The second half began how the first ended. A cross to the back-post reaching Pearce saw the ball bounce into the net, only to be denied by the offside flag once more.

Boston tried their luck in the early stages of the second half. Frankie Maguire from distance but he could only watch as his shot flew high and wide of the goal.

Maguire went for goal again not longer after but his shot on the half-volley bounced wide of the left-hand post.

The Boston number 10. had his third chance in the 62nd minute when the ball fell to him inside the box. His shot on the volley he could only skim wide.

The game was spun in the 64th minute when City midfielder Ollie Banks saw a straight red card for a challenge on Alex Lankshear. City were down to ten men.

Boston found their equaliser inside the second half. Alex Lankshear finding room in the box to shoot before placing the ball into the side of the net.

The visitors completed the turnaround right before the end. A ball into the box finding Connor Teale who jumped highest to head the ball into the net to give Boston the lead.

In the dying seconds Josh Stones collected the ball before racing through on goal and firing the ball straight into the bottom left-hand corner to rescue a point for the Minstermen.
